Welcome

The Society for Bicycle Advocacy at Dalhousie strives to help create a bike-friendly environment on Dalhousie Campus. We believe that Halifax would be a cleaner and healthier place if people used bicycles more often for transportation and recreation, and we believe that Dalhousie can be a leader in this kind of change.

Our Bonanza Event

Today, March 11, 2010, SBAD and the Campus Bike Centre held the Bicycle Tuneup Bonanza. We started early with the great weather at 9AM and had our first person walk in at about 9:10AM. From then on we went steady with a few busy spurts and only in the early morning and nearing 6PM did we have less than three or four people at a time. We serviced just over 40 people throughout the day which is incedible. We had no clue before hand about how many people would show up. This event was a huge success.

By coming to our event you showed us that Dalhousie needs a bike centre. You showed us that you wanted it and that it's a great service to students of this University. This event can go a long way to show that other universities need services like this. In return for your support of us we helped you make your bicycles safe and fun for the road this summer.

If anyone has any problem with their bikes after today and thinks we overshot somthing, by all means bring it back. Very shortly on the Campus Bike Centre website there is going to be the schedule for when a mechanic is on duty.

Rides

In the Fall of 2009 we started a regular Saturday morning ride with SBAD members. The pace was easy and the ride was just around town exploring parts of the city many of us don't often get to visit.

This springhad had some really warm and dry weather so were out again! Last Saturday was a ton of fun. We split into two groups. A fast group and an easy group.

Saturday at 12:45, meet at the Campus Bike Centre. Keep an eye on facebook or this site incase things change.
